"I have had a busy few days since the concert. It was a resounding success and thoroughly enjoyed by all. We have had some really lovely comments from people since then. Please convey our enormous thanks to all the Band members and please tell them how very much everyone enjoyed their music. It was a quite enchanting evening and by far the best we have hosted so far. I’m sure you will be a very popular return performance if you will be willing to come back? I hope the Band enjoyed the evening as much as we all did it really was a resounding success."

"Several people came up to me today and said how much they enjoyed the concert yesterday - even this afternoon at the Cream Tea gathering they were full of it. Well done to you ALL - the dynamics were superb. Anyone can blow hard all of the time but it takes aficionados to play properly !! See you all in December. Yours David D"

"I was impressed with your band. I have worked with the 3 RAF professional bands, as well as a number of youth amateur bands and you rate very highly. Your director generates a wonderful close sound that filled the Minster admirably."

"The York Railway Institute Band were the perfect choice to kick-off our international conference. Wonderful music played by a smartly turned-out and very talented brass band. The delegates from overseas particularly enjoyed the music."

"Hello Everyone
Within the next few days you will receive an official thank you from York's Annual Community Carol Concert for your attendance and performance today at the Barbican. But can I just send you a quick email to thank you all for a tremendous afternoon - I hope you all enjoyed yourselves in front of a capacity audience. I can advise you all that this will have been the most successful Carol Concert ever with the amount raised for the appropriate charities. This would not have been achieved if we had not had the support of all your choirs/bands families and friends turning out to watch and listen and be entertained by you all. What a great afternoon it was. Well done to you all - and thank you so much."

"Dear Gordon,
On behalf of the Trustees of the Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Railway Institute Band for your excellent performances at the Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary & Allied Air Forces Commemoration Day on Sunday 5th September.
It was indeed a wonderful occasion enhanced by the presence of your well presented band providing a fitting accompaniment to the Service and the Sunset Ceremony. We would also like to single out your young soloist who played the Last Post so poignantly. Several people commented that this was the best rendition they have ever heard of what is a challenging piece, especially in an occasion such as this, so really well done to him.
Our principle guests, Sir Stephen Dalton, Chief of the Air Staff, and Lady Dalton enjoyed the day enormously and have passed on their congratulations to all concerned.
We look forward to working with you once again in future occasions and thanks also for the very nice write up of the day on your website!
Yours sincerely,"
Ian Reed, Museum Director, Yorkshire Air Museum

"Dear Gordon
Just wanted to say how much we all enjoyed the brass band music on Saturday - it was a real treat from a group of very talented and dedicated musicians. It was also a delight to see so many young people in the band, and so smartly dressed too! It was a splendid 'turn'. Thank you also for permitting me to 'conduct' - not too bad a shot (I think) but I did get out of time from time to time, so it was a good job that you were there on the sidelines!
We hope that the Sunday concert went well, and trust that the weather was also with you then. Our very best wishes for the finals in September. Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend as we will be just returning from France.
Our very best wishes, and thanks."
Nanci Downey

"The evening was a great success thank you very much, due in no small part to the fantastic music provided by your band. Please pass on our thanks to everyone that took part and we will most certainly bear you in mind for the future. All the very best and Season's Greetings,"
A S Lord, Flt Lt, RAF Linton-on-Ouse

"I would just like to express my personal gratitude for the playing of the band on Sunday morning. The accompaniment was exemplary superb tempo and above all not too loud (I used to conduct the Remembrance Service with a local band playing - always way too loudly) but the YRI players found just the right tone. Everyone connected with the band should be very proud of their musicianship. Once again thank you for making such a grand contribution to the worship"
Rev R B Milne

"Just writing to say how much we all enjoyed the bands performance on Sunday. Whilst the venue for the Month of Sunday Concerts is a lovely one, the temperature in the sun was unbearable and still the band gave us a wonderful concert. Needless to say, we will be asking you to play for us again soon.
It is great also to see a band so well turned out!"
Brian Greenwood (for Howdenshire Live Arts)

"Please pass on our thanks to Derek Warley and the members of York Railway Institute Brass Band for making our Sunday afternoon in Howden so brilliant. Having loved brass bands from being a very small boy it gave me particular pleasure and my wife, Marilyn equal pleasure in listening to quality musicians playing quality music.
With my kind regards,"
